RIP to a Royal Runner
Fan favorite Terrance Gore passes away at age 34
Royals nation was shocked and saddened when Britney Gore broke the news of her husband Terrance’s passing on social media Saturday morning. According to his wife, Terrance died of complications following “routine surgery” at the age of 34.
There’s no doubt that Terrance Gore was a favorite of Royals fans during his time in Kansas City, and that he had one of the most unique careers of any Royals player. He spent parts of 5 seasons (2014-17, 2019) and made 86 appearances as a Royal, 53 of them as a pinch-runner. Gore’s last appearance in major league baseball was Oct. 5th, 2022 as a member of the New York Mets.
Gore’s calling card was his blazing speed on the base paths. He stole 34 bases for the Royals and was caught 9 times. Despite his status as a rarely-used player, Gore has three World Series rings (2015 KC, 2020 LA Dodgers, 2022 Atlanta Braves), coincidentally the same number of extra-base hits he collected in his career.
Our hearts go out to Britney and the Gore’s three children, all feeling the pain of a good man gone too soon.
